A Marine Story

Alexandra Everett is a Marine who can hold her own in a barroom scrap, but the rules of the military pose a different test. After returning from Iraq to her conservative hometown with a guarded private life, she winds up coaching a volatile teenage girl, Saffron, whose desire to join the Marines clashes with the girl's personal turmoil and the town's expectations. Alexandra's role shifts from soldier to mentor, and the story focuses on the tight bond that grows as she prepares Saffron for boot camp while managing the risk that her own history poses to her career and relationships. The film keeps its tension close to the characters, avoiding big reveals.
