Sixteen-year-old Nanako Shichigusa works as a hospital maid for the brusque Dr. Kyogi Ogami, and the series builds each episode around her well-meaning incompetence. Nanako is a slapstick heroine who knocks things over, misapplies treatments and keeps turning simple tasks into chaotic messes. Ogami responds with threats, yelling and frequent physical punishment, yet when one of Nanako's mistakes leads into danger he reliably intervenes at the last moment.
