Beetlejuice

After a sudden death, New England homeowners Adam and Barbara become ghosts stuck inside their ornate house, unable to leave or affect the world in any normal way. When an affluent New York family moves in and begins gutting the place, the couple's attempts to scare them away backfire. Desperate, they enlist a wild, unpredictable "bio-exorcist" named Beetlejuice, whose crude methods turn every plan into a chaotic spectacle. Lydia, the Deetzes' goth daughter, is the only living person who can see and sympathize with the deceased pair, which creates an uneasy alliance that keeps the story funny, strange, and often unsettling without giving away how things resolve.
