About Beleza Pura
Beleza Pura is a Brazilian soap opera that aired on Rede Globo from February 18 to September 12, 2007, running 179 chapters in the 19h timeslot. The series replaced Sete Pecados and introduced Andréa Maltarolli as a principal writer, working alongside Emanuel Jacobina, Ricardo Hofstetter, Daisy Chaves, Flávia Bessone and João Brandão. Text supervision came from Silvio de Abreu and Rogério Gomes handled general direction. The show assembled a strong cast including Edson Celulari, Regiane Alves, Carolina Ferraz, Humberto Martins and Christiane Torloni, and balanced serialized melodrama with lighter, everyday moments typical of prime early-evening telenovelas.
The production was steered by several directors, among them André Felipe Binder, Rogério Gomes, Marcelo Travesso and Luciana Oliveira. Rede Globo produced and broadcast the series during 2007, with writing credited to Maltarolli and her co-writers, under the supervision of established Globo veterans.
While Beleza Pura didn't sweep international prize circuits, it earned attention within Brazil for its performances and ensemble work. Critics and viewers often singled out the leads for bringing energy and chemistry to familiar soap-opera setups, and the series helped keep its principal actors in the national spotlight during and after its run.
Occupying the coveted 19h slot, the show had a clear presence in Brazilian pop culture at the time, thanks partly to its length and schedule, and to replacing an already popular predecessor. Its 179-episode run and the fact that it launched a newer writer into a major network production contributed to conversations about genre variety on Globo and helped sustain the careers of several cast members.
Audience and critical responses tended toward the positive, reflected in a user vote average of 8.0/10 from available ratings. Viewers appreciated the mix of romantic entanglements, family dynamics and lighter comedic moments, with recurring themes around love, social differences and personal choices driving episode-to-episode momentum.
