Helena used to be António Fontes Morais's secretary, and she engineered a marriage that lifted her into the role of trophy wife. António and Helena have two children, Tomás, who spent years living in the United States, and Camila, who lives for shopping and her phone. After Fausto was murdered, his son Miguel grew up in the care of his aunt and uncle, and tensions between the Fontes Morais and Rocha families hardened. Tomás and Miguel both develop feelings for Laura, a nurse who finds herself unaware of how central she is to a dangerous rivalry.
