Carrossel centers on a lively Brazilian classroom led by Professor Helena Fernandes as a mixed group of students learns, plays and grows together. Although it sits in the tradition of Latin American schoolroom stories, this Brazilian version reimagines the premise with local settings, humor, and sensibilities, keeping the core idea of guiding curious kids through lessons and mischief. It originated from a Mexican telenovela called Carrusel, itself inspired by the Argentine classic Jacinta Pichimahuida, la Maestra que no se Olvida. Debuting on SBT in 2012, it quickly became a favorite for families and young viewers.

Directed by Luiz Antônio Piá, Reynaldo Boury and Roberto Menezes, Carrossel was created by Íris Abravanel with Abel Santa Cruz and Rita Valente. It is a Brazilian remake of Carrusel, the Mexican series inspired by Jacinta Pichimahuida.

Its quick popularity transformed it into more than a TV show. Kids bought and traded music CDs and DVDs, and licensing spilled into toys and classroom merchandise. The success even spawned spin offs including an animated series and a sitcom, extending the Carrossel footprint beyond screens.
