When Luna, the machine who once guided an artificial civilization, is killed the world she helped run begins to rot. A mysterious affliction known as "The Ruin" spreads through robot communities, causing machines to decay and life to wither. Casshern, the man who killed Luna, alone remains uncorrupted but stripped of clear memory about what he did or why. Haunted by guilt and fragments of the past, he sets out to piece together his role in Luna's death and the origin of the plague, moving through ruined cities, crumbling ideals, and encounters that force him to ask whether memory or conscience defines a person or a machine.
