On the track and in the heat of competition, a fast young sprinter from Jamaica sees his Olympic dream derailed by a disqualifying mistake. With the doors closing at his favorite event, he rediscovers purpose by reaching out to a stubborn coach who has made his share of mistakes. Together they form an unlikely alliance and set out to build Jamaica’s first ever bobsled team. Directed by Jon Turteltaub, Cool Runnings arrived in 1993 with a screenplay by Lynn Siefert, Michael Ritchie and Tommy Swerdlow. It draws on the real life Jamaican bobsled story and pairs a warm ensemble with in studio humor.
