About Daphne & Velma
Two teenage sleuths have never met in the real world when their online chats spark a real life partnership. Daphne, newly transferred to Ridge Valley High, brings buoyant energy and a street smart sense for clues, while Velma, a precise and analytical thinker, maps every possibility in her head and on her screens. The school itself is a glossy, gadget heavy place funded by a tech billionaire, where interns vie for coveted spots and every device seems to hum with potential. When classmates vanish and later reappear altered, the two friends decide to look beyond the glitter and gadgets. Their online bond becomes hands on collaboration as they chase answers together, without spoiling the mystery. As they compare notes, their online friendship becomes a real partnership that pushes them to question authority and trust their instincts.
Directed by Suzi Yoonessi, Daphne & Velma reimagines the Scooby-Doo universe from the point of view of the two leads. Based on the Hanna-Barbera franchise, the film features Sarah Jeffery as Daphne and Sarah Gilman as Velma.
Box office: The movie did not receive a theatrical release and was distributed primarily through home video and digital platforms, so there is no widely reported worldwide gross. It is positioned as a direct to video entry rather than a cinema release.
Awards: There are no major nominations or wins noted for this title. While it fits within the Scooby-Doo family of live action reimaginings, it did not appear on major award lists and focused more on character chemistry than ceremony.
Reception and themes: Critics and audiences generally noted the playful tone and the chemistry between the two heroines. The story leans into themes of friendship, ingenuity, and independence, showing how curiosity and collaboration help young people solve problems when pressure builds and stereotypes threaten to push them apart.
