About Dead In The Pool 2
Penny, the coach's daughter from the earlier Dead In The Pool, wakes up after a brutal assault unable to walk and confined to a wheelchair. Medical trials offer a chance to recover her mobility, but the experimental treatments come with unsettling side effects. As Penny begins dreaming of killing the people she thinks are responsible, those same targets start turning up dead, drowned. Suspicion falls on her rival Susan Pierce and on Penny herself, whose nightmares feel increasingly real. The film follows Penny's unraveling as friends, enemies, and investigators try to figure out whether a human killer is at work or something else is manipulating the truth.
Directed by Gary Whitson, Dead In The Pool 2 was released in 1999 as a sequel to the original Dead In The Pool. The cast includes Dawn Murphy as Penny and Vanessa Carlton as Susan Pierce, with appearances by Debbie D, Pamela Sutch credited as Kassie Karr, and Tina Krause.
The film didn't register notable theatrical box office figures, and there are no widely reported gross totals. It circulated primarily through home video and genre distribution channels rather than mainstream cinema runs.
Critical and audience responses are mixed but show interest among genre viewers, reflected in a small but positive user score of 8.333 out of 10 from three votes. Reviewers and fans tend to focus on the horror setup that blurs what's imagined and what's real, and on the ethical questions around experimental medical treatments that may change a patient's sense of self and responsibility.
Among late 1990s low-budget horror entries, the movie has found a modest niche audience. Fans of straight-to-video thrillers point to the recurring water-drowning motif and the film's use of nightmares to unsettle the viewer. It isn't widely known outside cult horror circles, but it keeps attention from those who follow obscure sequels and practical-effects era horror.
