Years after his boyhood trauma at the Overlook Hotel, Danny Torrance is an adult trying to keep his life together while battling the lingering scars of that violent past. He drifts through anonymity, using odd jobs and anonymous support groups to stay sober and sane. When he meets Abra, a brave teenager with a potent version of the psychic "shine," their lives link. Abra needs help against a charismatic cult leader who feeds on people with psychic talent, and Danny must decide how far he'll go to protect her and silence his own demons, as old memories and new threats collide.
