Ein Leben lang

On a lakeside property outside Berlin, a once famous singer named Arthur Weyer, now 75, and his younger wife Elsa faced quieter days after years of happiness. Four years apart, their separation followed Arthur's romance with a younger woman and the onset of dementia. Elsa, though bruised by the past, still feels a duty to care for him and worries about financing a future nursing home. To raise money from the house, they decide to sell it, despite Arthur's resistance. They enlist Sorin, a 45-year-old man living on a nearby boat who DJs for a living, to help with packing and repairs. An uneasy trio forms as conflict gives way to a fragile closeness and old tensions begin to surface.

Directed by Till Endemann, this German TV drama arrived in 2022 with Paul Salisbury credited as the creator. The film emphasizes compact, character driven storytelling and relies on restrained, intimate performances from a small cast.
