El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera

El Tigre follows Manny Rivera, a twelve year old who lives in a colorful Mexican American city and leads a double life as a budding masked hero. He battles outlandish villains and copes with school, friendships, and the expectations that come with his unusual family: his dad is a celebrated superhero and his grandfather is a notorious luchador villain. Manny is attracted to heroic deeds but also enjoys mischief, so each episode sets up a moral choice delivered with fast paced action, slapstick comedy, and bold, graphic visuals. Episodes are short, self contained adventures that emphasize fun and character over long term plotting.

Created by Sandra Equihua and Jorge R. Gutierrez and directed in part by Gabe Swarr and Dave Thomas, El Tigre premiered in 2007 on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons. The creators pulled from Mexican folk art, family stories, and lucha libre imagery to shape the show's striking character designs, color schemes, and kinetic animation style.
