About Fresh Precure!

Fourteen-year-old Love Momozono is a kindhearted junior high student who puts others first. After watching a popular dance unit, she decides she wants to dance too, but that outing turns dangerous when agents of the Labyrinth Kingdom arrive to harvest the crowd's unhappiness. Love gains the ability to transform into Cure Peach and fights to protect people. Her two close friends, Miki and Inori, soon receive similar powers and become Cure Berry and Cure Pine, forming a trio that balances school life, performance ambitions, and battles against the kingdom's forces without giving up their everyday friendships.

Fresh Precure! was created by Atsushi Maekawa and premiered in 2009 as part of the long running Pretty Cure franchise. The show features voice performances from Kanae Oki, Eri Kitamura, Akiko Nakagawa, and Yuka Komatsu, and it aired on Japanese television with a focus on younger viewers and family audiences.

Critics and fans tend to rate the season positively, reflected in modest viewer ratings and a 7.5/10 score from a small sample of votes. Reviewers often highlight the show's lighthearted tone, emphasis on teamwork and performing arts, and its blend of comedy with action. Episodes balance schoolroom moments and magical battles, while keeping the pacing brisk and accessible for kids.

The series left a noticeable mark within the Pretty Cure lineup by foregrounding dance and pop performance as part of its identity. Costumes, transformation sequences, and musical interludes from this season became memorable for fans, and characters like Setsuna Higashi, later known as Cure Passion, became popular in merchandise, fan art, and cosplay communities. The show's themes around friendship and pursuing creative goals helped it stand out among other seasons.

Fresh Precure! did not receive major international awards, but it maintained steady popularity among its target audience and helped reinforce the franchise's presence in the magical girl genre. Its characters and songs continue to surface in fan circles and anniversary releases.

What Viewers Are Saying

7.5/10
from 12 ratings

Fresh Precure! is seen as the season that nails a solid villain arc and a cheerful Clover Town Street setting, with Love joining the team when she becomes a Pretty Cure during a Trinity band performance. There are big thoughts about individuality versus a glossy ideal life and the tech driven world that promises instant results but at the cost of memories and personality. People praise the writing and focus on relationships, especially Love and her friends, but note the late run drifts into wilder logic and some continuity slips like teen vibe re-dos and aging quirks.
