Jack Carter, a hard edged mob enforcer living in Las Vegas, is pulled back to his Seattle roots when his brother dies and a funeral brings out old grievances. The homecoming lands him in a murky crossfire of loyalties, debts, and hidden agendas. As he moves through the citys shadowy corners, Carter discovers that his brothers death may not be what it seems and he begins to suspect foul play. He digs into a maze of crooked cops, rival gangsters, and family secrets, chasing clues that point toward people who are supposed to be on his side. The line between ally and enemy blurs as danger closes in and the body count ticks upward. The city and its shadows weigh on him.
