Greyhound follows Commander Krause, a newly promoted captain tasked with guiding a convoy of troopships through the mid-Atlantic's 'Black Pit' where air cover is unavailable. For several relentless days he juggles navigation, sonar reports, and rapid-fire radio commands as German U-boats stalk the convoy. The film stays almost entirely on the destroyer's bridge, concentrating on tactical detail, the pressure of split-second choices, and the strained interactions among crew members as fatigue and uncertainty build. There are no broadside distractions; the story emphasizes the slow, nerve-testing work of anti-submarine warfare and the personal toll of command responsibility. Sparse dialogue and unglamorous operational detail keep the camera close to duty and strain, so small decisions feel enormous without flashy heroics or melodrama.

Released in 2020, Greyhound was directed by Aaron Schneider. Tom Hanks wrote and produced the screenplay from material by C. S. Forester and stars as Commander Krause, joined by Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan, Tom Brittney, and Josh Wiggins in addition.
