Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt's life flips when he discovers a hidden inheritance: he comes from a line of Grimms, people who can see the true, often monstrous forms of certain humans. As Nick tries to keep solving murders, he must also learn how to identify and handle Wesen, creatures who hide in plain sight. Balancing police procedure with secret supernatural rules pulls him into alliances with unlikely helpers, including a reformed Wesen who teaches him restraint, and a partner who insists on normalcy.
