Hallam Foe

Hallam Foe centers on a teenage boy whose hobby is watching the people around him from hidden corners of the city. His voyeurism acts as a shield against the pain of his mother's death and a way to test his own feelings about love. Rather than simply uncovering what happened to his mother, he becomes absorbed in the daily lives he observes from rooftops, windows, and alleyways. As he records impressions and crafts a secret world, Hallam treads a fine line between curiosity and obsession. When the emotional stakes rise, his pursuit of connection pulls him into fragile relationships and risky discoveries in a city that seems to stare back at him.

Released in 2007 and directed by David Mackenzie, Hallam Foe unfolds from an original screenplay by Ed Whitmore, presenting a self contained urban drama rather than an adaptation.
