High school student Houtarou Oreki prefers to keep life simple and conserve energy, so when his older sister nudges him into joining the Classic Literature Club he expects little more than a quiet semester. Instead he meets Eru Chitanda, a polite girl whose calm face turns intensely curious whenever she says, "I'm curious," Satoshi Fukube, a cheerful walking database, and Mayaka Ibara, a strict but earnest classmate.
