About Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
Barry Allen wakes in a shattered version of Earth where disaster and betrayal color every corner of the city. The usual speed of life is replaced by a race against a changing past, and the Justice League he knows has splintered into stranger, darker forms. Alone and determined, he must press through this hostile landscape and seek out alternate versions of his friends and teammates who still stand a chance of setting things right. With danger closing in from all sides, Barry learns that restoring the timeline will demand difficult choices and trust in people who look like heroes but carry new burdens. He discovers that trust is earned in risky alliances and fast moves.
Directed by Jay Oliva, the film adapts DC's Flashpoint story with a grittier, war torn look that suits the altered world. It's a Warner Bros. Animation project produced on a 3.5 million budget, released in 2013 for Blu-ray and DVD, and features voices by Justin Chambers, C. Thomas Howell, and Kevin McKidd.
As a direct-to-video title, it didn't post a wide theatrical gross and remains primarily a home release; box office numbers are not publicly reported, though it circulated in physical media and streaming markets around the world to eager collectors everywhere.
The Flashpoint Paradox helped popularize the idea of alternate timelines within DC animated features and influenced fans and creators to explore what-if scenarios. The film's darker tone and rearranged hero dynamics fed into later comics tie-ins and fan discussions. Fans debated character choices and how the story reinterprets familiar arcs.
Critics noted the brisk pace for a direct-to-video feature and praised how the story handles high stakes with shifting allegiances. The themes center on duty versus cost, the fragility of history, and the consequences of changing time, and it stands as a confident, compact entry in the DC animated lineup.
