Kamen Rider Kuuga

A cache of ancient remains and a carved stone belt surface during an archaeological dig, and the find awakens a violent species known as the Grongi, who start attacking humans. Yusuke Godai is an upbeat, ordinary man who discovers he shares a mysterious mental link with that stone belt, and when danger appears he transforms into the armored warrior Kuuga to fight the monsters. The series balances weekly action against a slow-burning mystery about the Grongi’s motives and origins, while following police investigators, researchers and Yusuke as they try to protect people without revealing the full truth about the strange power in their midst.

Created by Naruhisa Arakawa and first broadcast in 2000, Kamen Rider Kuuga stars Joe Odagiri as Yusuke Godai, with Shingo Katsurayama and Kazumi Murata among the supporting cast.
