Krypton

Set about two generations before the end of Superman's birthplace, Krypton follows Seg-El, a young man carrying the shame of an ostracized House of El. He wants to prove his family has value, so he fights corruption, political decay, and rival factions that threaten everyday life on the planet. Along the way Seg bonds with allies and clashes with enemies whose choices reshape the social order. The show keeps its focus on building a tense, pre-apocalyptic society, tracking how personal loyalty, public duty, and legacy collide without revealing major twists or the eventual fate of Krypton itself.

Krypton premiered in 2018 on Syfy, created by David S. Goyer, Nadria Tucker, and Lina Patel. The series adapts DC Comics material about Superman's ancestry and ran for two seasons before ending in 2019.

The series helped broaden televised looks at Superman lore, offering a grittier, political take on Krypton that prompted fan discussion and cosplay. Its visual approach to architecture, costumes, and the House of Zod left a noticeable mark among genre viewers who wanted a more lived-in, pre-Superman setting.
