About La Petite Histoire de France

La Petite Histoire de France stitches together four generations across separate centuries into one playful look at French history. The show follows ordinary people caught up in extraordinary times, mixing domestic life with big events in a way that feels fresh and funny. In 1810 Paris, Renata Plancher and her husband Jean run Chez Bonaparte, a small inn in the Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and they wrestle with the Emperor’s indifference while keeping the doors open and the family intact. In 1695, Count Philippe Honoré de Roche Saint-Pierre and his wife Marie-Louise inhabit the Château de La Croûtinière, far from courtly intrigue after a royal rebuke. In 1430, François d'Arc, cousin to Joan of Arc, stays in Domrémy and fights to aid his imprisoned kinswoman while tending to everyday chores. In ancient times Yorik, cousin of Vercingetorix, lives at the salt mine of Marsal with a sprawling clan and a constant buzz of humor.

Created by Frank Cimière Jamel Debbouze and Laurent Tiphaine, this 2015 French comedy for families blends history with humor. The cast includes Alban Ivanov, Ophélia Kolb, David Salles, Karina Marimon and François Levantal bringing the characters to life.

Viewers have greeted the show with a solid early reception, reflected in an 8.3 out of 10 from a handful of votes. The series leans into warm family dynamics and playful clashes between different eras, exploring memory, ambition and the absurd twists of history.
