About Lexx
A Time Prophet warns that Kai will someday topple the Divine Order that holds sway over the League of 20,000 Planets, but that fate lies in the future. For now the story rides with an unlikely crew aboard the Lexx, a living starship and the most destructive weapon in two universes. Stanley H. Tweedle is a cowardly security guard who clings to his title, Kai is an undead assassin brought back to serve, Xev Bellringer is a woman engineered for desire yet who pushes back against expectation, and 790 is a small, lovesick robot head obsessed with Xev. The series sends them through surreal, often grotesque settings where dark humor, erotic oddities and satirical sci-fi collide without promising tidy resolutions.
Created by Paul Donovan, Jeffrey Hirschfield and Lex Gigeroff, Lexx premiered in 1997 and ran as an unconventional science fiction series. The main cast includes Brian Downey, Xenia Seeberg, Michael McManus and Jeffrey Hirschfield voicing 790.
Lexx developed a devoted cult following because of its off-kilter tone and boundary-pushing visuals. Its shock value and willingness to mix sex, absurdity and horror made it a frequent topic in fan forums and genre retrospectives, and it’s often mentioned when people discuss the oddest sci-fi on television.
Critics were divided, while viewers who connected with the show rate it positively, reflected in a 7.0/10 fan average from 134 votes. The series returns again and again to themes of authority, exploitation, identity and the grotesque side of desire, using black comedy to unsettle as much as to amuse.
The show didn’t collect major mainstream awards like Emmys or Golden Globes, yet it sustained international interest through home video releases and festival or convention screenings. Its reputation has kept Lexx alive in niche circles, where fans trade episode memories, artwork and debates about its strangest moments.
