Radmilo is a successful young lawyer who has been in love with Ljiljana, a beautiful Belgrade woman he hasn't seen for years. Ljiljana is attached to another man, and when that man refuses to marry her she accepts Radmilo's proposal partly out of spite. On their first night together she confesses her feelings for someone else and tries to leave, but Radmilo asks for three months to invent a reason for separation, since everyone in his small town will talk. Over those three months their relationship shifts; what began as a clash of pride and convenience slowly turns into mutual care and unexpected tenderness, with both characters navigating social expectations and private regrets without dramatic plot twists revealed here.
