About Marry Me, Let's Have a Baby!
At a speed-dating event Taika Inaba hits it off with Ayano Katase, a doctor who makes clear she wants children. When the matching pairs are about to be announced Taika panics, overwhelmed by worries tied to his erectile dysfunction, and flees. Later, seeking medical help, he is stunned to find Ayano is his physician, and even more surprised that his symptoms vanish whenever he's around her. With time running they agree to a secret contractual marriage aimed solely at conceiving a child within a year, while keeping the arrangement private. The series follows their awkward domestic adjustments, practical hurdles like appointments and paperwork, and how their emotional connection changes under pressure. Tone mixes awkwardness with occasional silliness under constant stakes.
"Marry Me, Let's Have a Baby!" premiered in Japan in 2025, created by Hiroyoshi Kira and Iruka Taicho. Kei Shirai, Rei Kagami and Hana Yurimoto headline the voice cast in this animated television series. It was produced for television audiences.
Early response is mixed, reflected in a small user score of 6.333 out of 10. Viewers praise the show's frank approach to adult intimacy and reproductive expectations, while some point to uneven pacing. Major themes include stigma around sexual dysfunction, honesty, and negotiated family-making. Some viewers find character growth uneven.
Though recent, the series has generated online conversation about how anime can portray mature relationship issues and fertility pressures. Fans have produced memes and fan art about the premise, and discussions have appeared about privacy, treatment of sexual health topics and the ethics of contractual parenting, and debate about realism.
As of now the series has not received major awards or nominations. Given its niche subject matter and recent release, any recognition would likely come from animation festivals, specialty critics or fan-voted polls rather than large mainstream ceremonies. Smaller awards or critics' lists with adult themes could recognize it soon.
