About Men on a Mission
Men on a Mission turns grown celebrities into a rowdy classroom full of pretend high schoolers, where a steady group of well known entertainers play classmates and a new "transfer student" joins every episode. The show builds episodes around school-themed games, staged skits and improvised pranks that favor quick comebacks and physical humor. Regulars Kang Ho-dong, Lee Su-geun, Kim Hee-chul, Min Kyung-hoon and Kim Young-cheol trade barbs, form temporary alliances and compete in point-based rounds with silly penalties. The setup is episodic and light, so episodes work as standalone bursts of comedy rather than long character arcs or serialized storytelling.
Premiering in 2015, Men on a Mission was created by Yoo Sung-mi, Jeon Min-hee and Hwang Sun-young, and directed by Park Da-eun, Kim Sun-hyung, Yoo Ki-hwan, Ha Ho-jin and Choi Chang-soo, reflecting a production team steeped in Korean variety formats.
It wasn't a major awards contender, and I don't have records of prominent industry nominations. The program nevertheless earned steady viewer support during its run and became a familiar entry in many fans' variety show lineups.
Short clips of classroom challenges and punchlines spread online, helping the show reach audiences beyond television. The transfer-student gimmick reinforced a common variety formula, where a fixed cast creates a playful setting that highlights guest chemistry and produces shareable moments.
On user ratings it holds a 7.512 out of 10 from 41 votes, a sign of consistent fan approval. Reviews and viewer comments tend to highlight the cast's rapport and the show's nostalgic school motif, while noting the comedy leans into slapstick and routine variety-show tactics rather than dramatic depth.
