Miss Scarlet

When her father dies and leaves her with nothing, Eliza Scarlet refuses to close the family detective agency and instead vows to run it herself in 1880s London. Because respectable society won't accept a woman on the street investigating crimes, she recruits a rough, well-connected investigator known as the Duke to act as her operative in places she cannot go. Their partnership is prickly, often flirtatious, and fuelled by clashing methods: Eliza brings patience and a modern sensibility, the Duke brings grit and underworld contacts.
