About Momo
Orphaned and improvising her life among the ruins of a once grand Roman amphitheater, Momo forms a magical network of friends in her neighborhood, listening to people and learning their stories. She quells quarrels and brings calm by giving people time to slow down and share small kindnesses. But a shadow falls when a global corporation begins siphoning everyone's minutes, turning daily life into a race and leaving families with nothing but deadlines. As time slips away, Momo and a mysterious guardian named Master Hora, the custodian of time, team up to understand who is stealing what matters most. Together they chase elusive grey figures through city squares, markets, and bus stops to recover the hours that bind a community.
Directed by Christian Ditter, this adaptation draws on Michael Ende's source material to craft a family fantasy. Alexa Goodall stars as Momo, with Martin Freeman as Master Hora and Laura Haddock as Jackie, joined by Araloyin Oshunremi and David Schütter.
Box office figures have not been publicly announced yet as the film rolls out to theaters. Analysts expect strong family turnout in several regions, though totals will depend on international reception and market dynamics as critics weigh in across regions.
Initial response highlights Momo's warmth and the way it treats time as a precious resource rather than a mere plot device. The film explores community, generosity, and the power of listening, contrasting a fast paced world with moments of shared humanity that deepen family and neighborhood bonds across the city.
The story of Momo has long resonated for its focus on slowing time to value human connections. This adaptation may reintroduce those themes to new audiences, pairing a beloved cast with modern visuals; it invites families to reflect on how time is spent in daily routines in homes and schools.
