Genki is a boy who spends his free time hooked on the Monster Rancher games, and one day an unexpected event pulls him into the game world. He meets Holly, a resourceful girl, and a ragtag group of monsters including Mocchi, Suezo, Golem, Tiger and Hare. Together they travel through strange landscapes, visiting ruins and battling dark forces as they search for a way to bring back the Phoenix, the only creature that can stop the evil Moo.
