About Orgazmo

In Los Angeles, a devout Mormon named Joe Young balances church life with a martial arts reputation. A meeting with a flashy director leads him to become Orgazmo, a superhero turned adult film star. On set he teams with Ben Chapleski alias Choda Boy and Dave the Lighting Guy who keeps things lit. As Maxxx Orbison, a hard-nosed producer, pushes the project toward outrageous stunts, Joe must juggle rehearsals, secrecy, and the temptations of fame. He also crosses paths with Lisa, a compassionate bystander who is drawn into his double life. The clash between sacred vows and a carnival of performative sexuality drives the humor and the heart of the movie without shying from consequences.

Directed by Trey Parker from an original screenplay co-created with Matt Stone, Orgazmo debuted in 1998 as Parker and Stone's first feature after their South Park success. The film's budget of about $1 million shapes its bold, boundary-pushing humor and fearless tone.

Over time Orgazmo gained a modest cult following among fans of 90s comedy and South Park alumni. Its cheeky spoof of the adult film industry and its clash of piety with pop fantasy have kept it a talking point in cult cinema circles. That blend earned it a cult status.

Critical response was mixed, with some praising its fearless energy and satirical bite while others criticized the crude humor. The film probes themes of faith versus desire, fame, and the compromises people make to chase a dream, all served with irreverent humor. It also asks how belief collides with ambition.
