Pasión prohibida resets Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil's 1900 novel into contemporary Miami, centering on Bianca Santillana, a striking young woman who becomes the new wife in a powerful family. Her arrival disrupts household rhythms when a younger man in the household begins to feel a dangerous, secret attraction to her, setting up a web of desire, jealousy and social pressure. The series follows how those tensions affect loyalties, reputations and personal ambitions without revealing key plot twists. As loyalties shift and each character guards private secrets, the household turns into a pressure cooker where small choices can have large consequences.

Released in 2013 by Telemundo Television Studios in Miami, Pasión prohibida adapts the Turkish telenovela Aşk-ı Memnu and the original Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil novel. The Miami-shot production paired veteran telenovela talent with younger stars for a contemporary spin, headlined by Jencarlos Canela and Mónica Spear.

There are no widely reported major industry awards connected to the series, so it wasn't an awards season presence. The series leans into classic telenovela pacing and melodrama, with main themes of forbidden desire, class tension, deceit and the costs of living a public life while hiding private transgressions, and audiences praised performances.
