Recess

Six fourth graders at Third Street Elementary turn recess into a small world of rules, rivalries, and rituals where playground politics matter as much as classwork. Led by TJ Detweiler, the group includes sporty Vince, tough Ashley Spinelli, brainy Gretchen, gentle Mikey, and the scheming Gus, and they spend each day planning games, outsmarting hall monitors, and protecting the unspoken codes that keep their circle intact. Episodes balance humor with moments of heart as the kids test boundaries, learn about fairness and loyalty, and try to keep their private playground order from collapsing under adult interference.

Created by Joe Ansolabehere and Paul Germain, Recess debuted in 1997 and features voice work from Andrew Lawrence, Rickey D'Shon Collins, Pamela Adlon, Ashley Johnson, and Jason Davis.
