Ronja, the Robber's Daughter

Ronja grows up as the daughter of Mattis, who leads a band of robbers living in a fortress deep inside a sprawling, mysterious forest. As she gets older she slips past the castle boundaries to meet odd, magical creatures and learns practical skills by trial and error, though her parents occasionally pull her out of danger. The forest pushes her to test herself, hunt, and improvise shelter, and everyday play begins to teach harder lessons. Her life shifts when she meets Birk, a boy from a rival clan, and their friendship forces her to rethink loyalty and decide what kind of person she wants to become.
