Bob Lee Swagger is a celebrated Marine marksman who retires after a mission gone wrong, choosing a quiet life away from the spotlight. When a high level government insider pulls him back to prevent an assassination of the President, Swagger agrees to lend his expertise, hoping to expose the truth behind the threat. The plan spirals into a trap, and suddenly Swagger finds himself branded a would-be killer, forced to outrun a nationwide manhunt. With authorities closing in, he tracks the real instigators and looks for who manipulated events, all while grappling with the corrosive reach of power and the price of uncovering lies that threaten the country.
