About Silent Hill: Revelation 3D
Heather Mason and her father have spent years on the run from a nameless danger that haunts her sleep and colors her memories. As she closes in on adulthood she is tormented by brutal nightmares and the sudden disappearance of her father. When she finally uncovers hints about her origins, Heather realizes world she knows is part of a larger, sinister reality. The search for answers pulls her into a place that looks familiar but feels hostile, where every step raises new questions about her family and her own powers. The line between protection and peril becomes dangerously thin as she fights to survive against danger, awakening abilities. The visuals lean into series storms of fog and firelight and thunder.
Directed by M J Bassett with Laurent Hadida as producer, Silent Hill Revelation 3D, starring Adelaide Clemens and Sean Bean, arrived in 2012 as the follow up to the first film, drawing on the Silent Hill video game cinematic universe.
The movie grossed 55,975,672 worldwide against a 20 million budget, underscoring modest but solid performance for a horror sequel and a mid tier release during its 3D revival run. It performed best in international markets.
Among fans of the series, Revelation 3D is noted for keeping the franchise's signature blend of eerie corridors and nightmarish imagery; its 3D presentation drew attention at the time, reflecting a broader push for immersive horror experiences. It also sparked discussions about how video game sensibilities translate to live action.
Critical reception was mixed, with some outlets praising the look and mood while others found the story disjointed. Viewers were reminded of the series preoccupations with memory, identity and the consequences of buried traumas as Heather confronts a reality that throws her into danger and tests her resolve in confrontations.
