About Söz

Yavuz Karasu is a skilled Turkish officer whose quiet moment in Istanbul with his fiance is shattered by a sudden terrorist attack. A doctor named Bahar, not a surgeon by trade, tries to save the wounded, and a small, personal exchange ties her to Yavuz afterward. He returns to his post in Karabayir, and when a new threat emerges he is appointed to lead an elite team tasked with hunting the terrorists and protecting their town and nation. The unit is tight-knit and professional, and personal loyalties, duty and the cost of service shape each mission. Personal loyalties and ethical questions about counterterror work recur as squad relationships shift under pressure.

Premiering in 2017 on Turkish television, Söz was created by Ethem Özışık and directed by Yağız Alp Akaydın. The military drama stars Tolga Sarıtaş as Yavuz Karasu, Nihat Altınkaya, Deniz Baysal and others, and also delivered high-production action across multiple seasons.

While Söz didn't win major international prizes, it was prominent in Turkish entertainment coverage and attracted attention during national award seasons for its production values and ensemble performances. Actors received praise in reviews, and the series was discussed among contenders in domestic TV awards.

The show tapped into contemporary Turkish concerns about security and national pride, and its portrayal of unit cohesion and sacrifice struck a chord with many viewers. Söz inspired active online fan communities, regular social media discussion, and influenced later Turkish dramas that favored military action and ensemble casts.

Reception was mixed, with a user vote average of 6.643/10. Many viewers praised the action choreography, the chemistry among the team and Tolga Sarıtaş's lead performance. Other commentators critiqued the series for strong nationalistic tones and occasional melodramatic scripting, but most agreed it was entertaining television.
