Tangled

Rapunzel has spent her whole life locked in a hidden tower, raised by an overprotective woman who insists the outside world is dangerous. As her eighteenth birthday approaches she becomes determined to see the annual floating lanterns that fill the night sky, even though she has never stepped beyond her windowsill. When a roguish wanted thief named Flynn Rider crashes into the tower while fleeing the law, Rapunzel seizes the chance to trade sanctuary for a guided escape. They make a bargain, and what follows blends action, comic set pieces and romantic moments as they cross bustling towns, twisty forests and lively taverns, testing their trust and revealing pieces of each other's past while keeping the central surprises intact overall.

Released in 2010, Tangled was directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, with screenplay contributions from Dan Fogelman and Mark Kennedy, and it reimagines the Brothers Grimm Rapunzel. The main voice cast includes Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy.

The lantern scene and the image of Rapunzel's glowing hair became instantly recognizable, and the movie's running gag of a frying pan as an unlikely weapon became a fan favorite worldwide. The duet 'I See the Light' grew familiar, and the film's imagery turned up in merchandise and fan art.

Audiences rated the movie highly, reflected in a 7.61/10 vote average, and critics praised its vibrant animation, the chemistry between Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, and its catchy score.
