Released in 2003 as an anthology of eight animated shorts set in the Matrix universe, The Animatrix was directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, Mahiro Maeda, Takeshi Koike and Peter Chung, with concept by Shinichiro Watanabe and Koji Morimoto and diverse approaches.
