The Core

When geophysicist Josh Keyes realizes the Earth's inner core has stopped spinning, he and other scientists race to understand why the planet's magnetic shield is collapsing and the atmosphere is failing. As strange electromagnetic events and catastrophic weather escalate, a joint civilian-military team proposes an extreme fix: travel deep beneath the surface in a custom vessel to plant nuclear devices designed to restart the core. The film follows their preparation, the technical and personal tensions inside the crew, and the hazardous descent under conditions that get worse by the hour. It keeps the focus on the mission and immediate dangers, avoiding major plot spoilers about how the operation unfolds.
