Touko is a young villager who survives an attack in the woods after a tracker named Koushi intercedes, but their meeting feels planned rather than accidental. As Touko and Koushi cross paths with other hunters and enigmatic figures tied to the infernal creatures, she starts to question what the barriers really protect and who decides which lives are worth saving. The show follows their evolving relationship and the larger mysteries of the burned wilderness, keeping the stakes personal while the wider threat simmers.

Created by Rieko Hinata with veteran filmmaker Mamoru Oshii attached, The Fire Hunter debuted in 2023 as an animated series.
