The Juror

On the surface a routine murder case becomes a high stakes test for a devoted mother. Annie Laird, a juror, is pressured by her mob boss's enforcer known as the Teacher to secure a not guilty verdict. The message is chilling: if she resists, her son Oliver could be harmed. Annie persuades some jurors to question the evidence while secretly seeking proof of the plot. As the danger intensifies, she sends Oliver abroad and tries to assemble concrete testimony before the mob can silence her, setting up a tense clash. The narrative keeps the threat in sight, balancing courtroom procedure with street level fear.

Directed by Brian Gibson and adapted from George Dawes Green's novel with a screenplay by Ted Tally, The Juror released in 1996 as a courtroom thriller led by Demi Moore and Alec Baldwin, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in an early role.

Critics gave a mixed reception, praising the lead performances and the constant peril surrounding Annie, while some found the plot repetitive.
