The Last Starfighter

Alex Rogan is a teenage video game prodigy who feels stuck in a small town and yearns for something bigger. When he wins a high score at a humble arcade, he catches the eye of Centauri and is whisked away to a distant world. There he learns that an elite corps of star fighters defends the galaxy and that his gaming skill might be more than luck. The mission ahead tests his courage and wits as he trains with seasoned pilots, faces alien dangers, and discovers what it really means to be a hero. The stakes are personal for his Earthbound family. Along the way he discovers loyalty, resilience and the hard choices heroes must make.

Directed by Nick Castle from an original screenplay by Jonathan R Betuel, The Last Starfighter arrived in 1984 with Lance Guest as Alex Rogan and Robert Preston as Centauri. The ensemble also includes Chris Hebert as Louis Rogan and Kay E. Kuter as Enduran.
