Flapjack is a sweet, wide-eyed boy who was raised inside a talking whale named Bubbie, and he wants nothing more than to reach the fabled Candied Island. He signs on with Captain K'nuckles, a grizzled, often scheming old pirate who promises adventure and treasure. Together they set out from their harbor town, meeting eccentric characters like Peppermint Larry and encountering strange, sometimes eerie surprises at sea. Episodes mix slapstick and surreal set pieces with quieter moments of friendship and longing, keeping the focus on Flapjack's childlike optimism as it bumps up against the bizarre world beyond Bubbie’s belly.
