About The Monkey's Paw
Jake Tilton is handed a relic shaped like a monkey's paw that promises three wishes. At first the power seems astonishing, yet it quickly sours as his second wish brings back his cold eyed coworker Tony Cobb from the grave. Cobb is not grateful or tame, and his presence drags Jake into a web of intimidation and danger. As the line between reality and nightmare blurs, Jake realizes every wish carries a price and twists the people he cares about. With Cobb pressing for a final wish that would reunite Cobb with his own son, Jake must find a way to outsmart his relentless friend and safeguard what remains of his world. Every choice tightens the trap for Jake.
Directed by Brett Simmons and adapted from W W Jacobs's The Monkey's Paw, the 2013 film brings Macon Blair and Adam Meyer into credit as creators while casting CJ Thomason and Stephen Lang in lead roles prominently opposite Michelle Pierce.
Box office data for this title is sparse because it circulated mainly through direct to video channels. There are no widely reported grosses, which is typical for low profile horror releases and their limited theatrical footprints in many markets worldwide.
Cultural impact remains limited, with the film playing as one entry in the long tradition of cursed objects and wish based horror. It nods to the original tale while standing as a modern scare story for genre fans. It appeals to horror fans who appreciate suspense and a grim mood.
Reception was mixed, with online audiences giving a mediocre score while some critics found tense moments and solid mood despite uneven pacing. The film looks at temptation and the price of power, showing how fear and loyalty collide and push ordinary people toward drastic choices here.
