Laura Diamond is an NYPD homicide detective who runs a high-stakes day job alongside a chaotic home life. She handles murder scenes with sharp instincts and a knack for noticing small details, while also managing twin boys, a messy household and a reluctant soon-to-be ex-husband who is also a cop. Laura's mix of humor, fatigue and fierce dedication keeps cases moving, and her partnership with Jake Broderick brings steady support and occasional romantic tension. When her ex ends up in a supervisory role at the precinct, lines between personal and professional obligations get blurrier, and each day becomes a test of priorities and patience.
