The One

On August 24, 1981, Larisa and Vladimir Savitsky board a civilian flight from Komsomolsk on Amur to Blagoveshensk. Minutes before landing, a mid air collision shatters the plane and sends it streaming down through the sky. The wreckage breaks apart above a vast taiga, and most of the people on board are lost to the cold. Miraculously, Larisa wakes inside the jagged remains, dazed but alive, with the forest closing in around her. Cut off from rescue, she must hew to survival by scavenging what she can, building shelter, and facing the elements, fear, and memories that resurface after catastrophe.
