About Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue
On a sunlit summer away from Pixie Hollow, Tinker Bell slips into a human girl's yard and is spotted by Lizzy Griffiths, a lonely child who longs for a real friend. Tink feels a pull toward a world where help and companionship count more than mischief. When Vidia mobilizes the other fairies to stage a rescue during a brutal storm, the group faces flying debris, wind and fear as they race to protect Lizzy and her fairy house. Tink quietly watches from the wings, unsure of where she belongs, yet drawn to the human friendship she sees forming. Across rain and fear, a bond grows between Tink and Lizzy that reframes what kindness looks like across two very different worlds. Lizzy's father Dr. Griffiths, a scientist who studies fairy lore, keeps an eye on the strange intruder as the storm approaches.
Directed by Bradley Raymond, the film sits in Disney's long running Fairy franchise and builds on the world created by Paul Germain Rob Muir and Joe Ansolabehere. It was released direct to video by DisneyToon Studios in 2010. The voice cast includes Mae Whitman as Tinker Bell and Lucy Liu as Silvermist, bringing warmth and humor to the winged ensemble.
Box office: This title did not have a theatrical release, existing mainly as a direct to video feature. No major box office figures are reported, and its reach was through home media and broadcasts.
Cultural impact: The movie helps extend the Disney Fairies lineup by showing how human and fairy worlds can connect through trust and care. Vidia is portrayed as a sharp strategist, while Tinker Bell reveals a more patient loyal side that fans recognize.
Reception & themes: Critics noted the film's gentle tone and emphasis on friendship, responsibility, and courage over flashy spectacle. The story centers on Lizzy's loneliness and Tink's need to belong, offering a message about choosing cooperation over conflict that lingers with families long after the credits roll.
