About Track 143
Set against a war scarred landscape, Track 143 follows Olfat as she guards her children through grinding poverty. Her son Yonos works in a copper mine near Kerman, while his peers drift toward the frontline. When a note is found saying that "my friends and I are going to enter the war as soldiers" the worry in Olfat and the other parents grows. After Operation Valfajr falters, news of a friend's fate circulates and Olfat clamps onto any thread of information. She even ties a radio to her back so she can hear the Iranian captives named on the Iraqi broadcasts, and she waits for her son to return.
Directed by Narges Abyar, Track 143 is a tightly drawn Iranian war drama told through a mother's lens. Abyar anchors the story with intimate performances and a focus on ordinary life pressed by extraordinary times.
Critically, the film has been recognized for its humane portrayal of resilience in the face of war. Its central theme centers on maternal devotion, sacrifice, and the way a family endures when information is scarce and hope is a heartbeat.
Box office data for Track 143 is not widely published, so worldwide grosses are not publicly reported, and thus not accessible in standard box office tallies.
The film offers a quiet look at civilian life in wartime Iran and has been discussed for its spare but powerful depiction of devotion. The image of a mother carrying a radio becomes a recurring motif that lingers after the credits.
