About Twist of Fate
Ada grew up convinced that the men who leave their first loves doom the women in her family to unhappy lives. Determined to break that pattern, she falls for Rüzgar, an Albanian student facing deportation. To keep him in the country she proposes a marriage of convenience, planning to turn it into a real relationship when he proposes on their third anniversary. When Rüzgar abandons her on that date, Ada reacts immediately, trying to win back what she thought was her destined love. Along the way her plans collide with Bora, a driven, emotionally guarded man who challenges her assumptions about fate and romance.
Created by Serdar Gözelekli, Twist of Fate premiered in 2021 as a Turkish TV series and features Aytaç Şaşmaz, Cemre Baysel, İdris Nebi Taşkan, Aslı Sümen, and Hande Subaşı in lead roles. The show’s production and premiere helped spotlight a young ensemble cast in a modern romantic drama-comedy setting.
Audiences have responded well, the series holding an 8.6/10 average from 20 votes. It mixes romantic comedy beats with more serious themes, like family expectations, immigration and identity. Performances are often noted for their chemistry, and the writing balances humorous misunderstandings with the emotional fallout of broken promises and social pressures.
On social media the series prompted conversations about first-love myths and the ethics of convenience marriages, especially when immigration is at stake. Fans have followed the characters closely, which boosted the profiles of several cast members and generated online discussion about how family history shapes romantic choices.
There are no widely reported major awards or high-profile nominations associated with the show. It’s best known for its audience appeal and the way it foregrounds relationship dynamics rather than industry accolades.
